Nationwide glazing is a doddle for high heeled student

Smashing success for high heeled glazier (in male dominant nationwide industry)

A Product Design Student from Bangor University has blown away managing director of local business Hughes Glass and Glazing Ltd.
Student Elen O’Connor approached the business with a view to gaining work experience needed for her university course and ended up managing the businesses nationwide contracts to further success. Elen has now secured a permanent post at the company and will create jobs for others in the future.
One client she manages have over a thousand stores throughout the UK and Ireland.
Her accomplishments prompted local entrepreneur Adam Lacy  (MD) to approach the local university’s Go Wales team to enlist more students. The glazing company currently has a business and law student on a two week work placement putting her technical knowledge into practice by promoting the company before their upcoming expansion for a call canter and a development to manufacture double glazed units.
The company plans to continue taking on students, offering them crucial work experience to compliment their academic studies.
Elen applied for the internship and has been part funded by the Santander Internship scheme for Bangor students and facilitated by Bangor University working in partnership with companies like ourselves to promote work experience.
